FA Cup Game of the Week: Oldham 2-2 Everton

Everton thought that they had sealed a place in the quarter finals of the FA Cup until substitute Matt Smith headed in the equaliser with the last second of the game.

Oldham had taken a shock lead through Jordan Obita after Oldham caught Everton on the counter attack and Lee Croft's miss hit shot went in after he tapped it in. But Everton replied eleven minutes later with Victor Anichebe smashing in a shot on the turn.

After half time Everton caught Oldham napping and Phil Jagielka happily headed in Everton's second goal of the night. However Oldham forced loads of pressure onto Everton and finally found the goal through 6"6 striker Matt Smith. But there is some controversy over whether the Oldham goalkeeper used his hand to force it into the net. I disagree but I see some people's point. It did look like it hit the arm of the goalie but Smith's head was right next to the arm.

Matt Smith has now engraved  himself in Oldham history. He scored two goals against Liverpool to knock them out and he has now earned the Latics a replay at Goodison Park.

The other FA Cup results Luton 0-3 Millwall, Arsenal 0-1 Blackburn, MK Dons 1-3 Barnsley.

Champions League Game of the Week:Real Madrid 1-1 Manchester United

My champions league game of the week was held at the Bernabeu were Manchester United were held to 1-1 draw against Real Madrid. Fabian Coentrao nearly broke the deadlock after just five minutes as Real dominated. However once agin their weakness came at corners, and Wayne Rooney delivered a decent cross Danny Welbeck simply headed the ball into the net. A soft goal to concede but a vital one for United. United then found their stride and forced Diego Lopez into making many saves.

After Real kept on dominating (again) they finally found the goal that they were hoping for through a certain Cristiano Ronaldo who scored against his old club. However Ronaldo did not grab the headlines. Instead it was normally disappointing goalkeeper David De Gea. The result means that we can look forward to an exciting match at Old Trafford.

The other Champions League games were: Shakhtar Donetsk 2-2 Borussia Dortmund, Celtic 0-3 Juventus, Valencia 1-2 PSG.
